BOARD MEMBERS

CHRISTIAN E. OKEREKE

Board Chairman

Christian is a highly motivated individual and an astute entrepreneur. Having a background in Industrial Chemistry, he manages his own Oil and Gas and Import and Export Companies. He has extensive knowledge in the Industrial and Commercial fields of the Oil– Industry and Petroleum sectors and is also an Information Systems expert.

He grew his businesses from start-up to profitability through effective business planning and innovative marketing. Known for a contagious passion for excellence, a talent for resourceful business solutions, and a capacity for leadership.

He is an open-minded and resourceful leader with an optimistic outlook on all things in life. He has highly developed analytical, technical, and problem solving skills, highly motivated with the ability to work independently or within a team setting.

With a big heart for helping the less privileged, Christian is the Director of Zobanendo Foundation, which supports most orphanages in the Tema Metropolitan area.

CHINELO O. OKPARA

Group Managing Director

Chinelo Okpara holds a M.A Human Resource Management from the University of Westminster Business School, London, United Kingdom and a B.Tech Industrial Microbiology from the Federal University of Technology,Owerri, Nigeria. She has vast experience in the banking and financial services sector.

She started her banking career in 2005 with United Bank for Africa Plc, Jos where she functioned as a Profit Centre Manager, Small & Medium Enterprise Banking Group before moving to FCMB Jos where she worked in the Personal Banking, Commercial Banking and the Pubic sector space as a Team lead. She proceeded to the UK for her Masters and did a short spell with TBS Trade Limited, London from 2011 to 2012 where she worked as an HR officer/Customer service officer.

Upon her return to Nigeria in 2012, she was immediately taken back by First City Monument Bank Limited, Abuja as a Relationship Manager Business Banking Group. She maintained this role until 2018 when she moved to Wema Bank Plc, Abuja to deploy her unique skills as a Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking Group.

Chinelo joined Standard Chartered Bank, Abuja as Team Lead Business Banking Abuja and North where she pioneered the acquisition drive for new business banking clients in Abuja/North, and was able to onboard over 100 quality clients in H1 of 2020. She also achieved with the Abuja team a milestone performance in revenue generation for business Banking in Nigeria 2020 and surpassed all key performance indicators.

She has a proven track record of outstanding achievements in the banking and financial services industry and a passion for building and supporting new businesses.

Chinelo joined Cititrust Holdings Plc in June, 2021 and was the Group Executive for Private Wealth Management Division of the Group. During her time at Cititrust, the group recorded unprecedented growth. She grew the private wealth division with her team and set a standard in the cititrust group.

Chinelo joined the Gecenyi group Limited as the Group Managing Director in June 2023 and sits as a director of the group and subsidiaries. She joins with her wealth of knowledge on financial management and organization.

She is married and a proud mother of two lovely children.

HNH ALHAJI ABUBAKAR SADIQ AHMED YAKUBU

Independent Director

Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu, born into a distinguished lineage in Kano, Nigeria, combines royal heritage with a commitment to humanitarian service. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a postgraduate degree in Management Information Systems. He began his career in the fashion industry, contributing to Abercrombie & Fitch’s success in the UK and expanding its presence in Europe.

In 2010, he joined ZUMA Energy Nigeria Limited, where he played a pivotal role in coal mining and power plant projects. Recognized for his accomplishments, he moved to Zuma Infrastructure Management Company (ZIMCO) Nigeria Limited in 2012, engaging foreign investors for railway projects and obtaining government approvals.

In 2016, Alhaji Abubakar established his consultancy firm and holds leadership positions in various private sector entities. He has pursued further education in business analysis, strategy, and management. A member of the UK Institute of Management Information Systems, he embodies a philosophy of equality and strives to uplift youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities through philanthropy and partnerships with NGOs.

He has received numerous awards for his philanthropic efforts and selfless service. In October 2021, he assumed the role of Ejeh Ankpa IV, marking an important continuity in his family’s legacy. Alhaji Abubakar’s global travels have enriched his perspective, and he is a devoted Muslim, happily married with children. He aspires to leave a lasting legacy as Ejeh Ankpa IV, dedicated to the betterment of his community.
